A Fun Day Inside

Although it was pretty much raining all day long, everyone around here found something to do. My husband and his nephew worked on revell models, I sat down with all my scrapbooking supplies and started on my next album. My daughter ended up cleaning her room, which was very productive I might add. It just goes to show you that there are things to do when it's nasty outside.

Loving my Pool

I own a swimming pool and I love it! It is great during the summer. There is not much trouble to having a swimming pool. Swimming pool pump motors are a must though. You want a pump to keep your pool clean and also help prevent from it freezing over in the winter. I wouldn’t trade my pool for anything in the world.

Home Remedies for Lice

Lice are parasitic insects that feed in blood and lives in human hair. It is a common problem among humans when it comes to their hair and scalp. There are home remedies for lice that you can use to get rid of these annoying and embarrassing parasites. 

Lice comb

            If you do not like using insecticide-based treatments to get rid of your head lice, you can use lice comb. Lice comb is a popular method in removing lice from the hair. This fine-toothed comb can be used effectively when the hair is wet. After the hair is wet, comb the hair and you can see live lice and nits from the sections of the comb. Pick the bugs and nits and crush these to ensure that they will not transfer to other heads or hairs. Wet comb the hair everyday to ensure that you gotten rid of all the nits and newly hatched lice. However, not all nits can be removed by lice comb so it is still best to take the nits manually.

Mayonnaise

            Mayonnaise applied to your hair or your kid’s hair is also one of the popular home remedies for lice. Use real regular mayonnaise, not the miracle whip or light mayo. Apply the mayonnaise in the scalp and the hair. Make sure the entire scalp is coated then seal the hair up with a shower cap or with a plastic grocery bag if you do not have a shower cap. This will suffocate the lice, let it stay for a few hours or you may leave it overnight, then pull-off the shower cap and you will see dead lice. Wash the hair thoroughly then pick out the nits that stay on the hair shaft to prevent them from hatching new lice again. There is no effective treatment to kill the nits than to remove it manually.

Herbal remedies

            Herbal remedies such as tea tree oils and other essential oils are also used to treat head lice. These are mixed with a regular shampoo in the right proportions and let it sit into the hair for an hour. However, herbal remedies are not regulated by the FDA, so you must use caution in using these.

Head lice can be treated. The most important thing in treating head lice is to be patient, keep trying different types of home remedies for lice until you will find the best that will remove the lice. Make sure as well that when you are treating your lice or your kid’s, treat other members of the family simultaneously especially if they have close contact with the infected hair to prevent the transfer.
